How to Change DNS Settings on macOS

Here's how to update DNS settings on your Mac:

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open System Settings

    • Click the Apple menu  and select "System Settings" (or "System Preferences" on older macOS versions).

  2. Go to Network Settings

    • In the left panel, click "Network".

    • Choose your active connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).

  3. Edit DNS Settings

    • Click the "Details…" button next to your active connection.

    • Navigate to the "DNS" tab.

  4. Add DNS Servers

    • Click the "+" button to add new DNS entries.

    • Enter the following:

      • 8.8.8.8

      • 8.8.4.4
        (Or use Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1)

  5. Apply Changes

    • Click "OK" and then "Apply" to save your settings.

  6. Restart your browser or app and check if the issue is resolved.


You may need to restart your Mac for the changes to take full effect.
