How to Change DNS Settings on Windows 10 / 11

Follow the steps below to change your DNS settings on Windows:

Step-by-Step Instructions

1️⃣ Open Network Settings

  • Right-click the Network icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner).

  • Click "Network and Internet settings".

2️⃣ Open Adapter Options

  • Scroll down and click "Change adapter options" (under "Advanced network settings").

3️⃣ Open Properties

  • Right-click on your active internet connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and select "Properties".

4️⃣ Select IPv4 Settings

  • Scroll down and double-click on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)".

5️⃣ Change DNS Server Addresses

  • In the new window, select "Use the following DNS server addresses:"

  • Enter your preferred DNS settings:

    • Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8

    • Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4
      (These are Google’s public DNS servers)

6️⃣ Click OK and close all windows.

7️⃣ Restart your browser or app and try again.


Tip: You can also use Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1) if you prefer.
